In the year 2012, the social networking site Facebook limited the length of an “entry” to 420 characters, or keystrokes, as they were known in the time of typewriters. The poems written here were published on Facebook under this restriction, as were the excellent translations by Lawrence Schimel. Thus, the limits of technology mingle with the imagination without frontiers, keystrokes with strokes of the lash.
