The bestiary tradition in poetry is an ancient line in which Latin America has been prolific. This is no exception; I continue the theme of the animal kingdom in two ways, following tradition and betraying it. The order of the animals imitates the course Ovid takes in “The Metamorphoses”: they appear in allusive order, each poem tangentially announcing the following animal; here, however, it is not the bestial nature of the animals that is observed, but the human aspect in which they are contained.
